Goodbye Dear Friend

Dear Friends,

It is with tremendous sadness that I share the passing of my darling Jenny. I cannot bear it.  She passed peacefully in my arms this morning.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with Jenny, her story is here.  She was, unequivocally, the sweetest cat I have ever known.  My husband gave her to me in December for my birthday.  Truly, the greatest gift I have ever received.  I am so sad. So very sad.
Jenny was 19 years old when we adopted her.  She had spent the past 13 years of her life in a shelter.
Even after all that, she was the most affectionate, loving friend I have ever known.  She followed me absolutely everywhere.  My shadow.
I miss you, friend.  I miss you.

 Such a sweet girl

Upon arrival to her new home.  Best day ever!

Helping me decide what color to paint the china cabinet interior.  We chose grey, to match her beautiful coat!

Waiting for Santa to fill her stocking.  She fell asleep before he arrived.

  1. You have been through so much Andie. I adore my cat Miss Belle so much, she is definitely the princess round here. I wish I were there to hug you my friend. Come and see me soon...

  2. I am so sorry, Andie! Your heart must hurt! You have to know what a difference you make in the lives of the sweet kitties that are lucky enough to come live with you. What you do is very special and not something everyone can do. I know your sweet charges appreciate having a loving home in their old age. I am sure that you would argue, however, that you are the lucky one for having known them. I am sending you extra hugs...Debbie

  4. This is what we take on with our pets. And it's horrible.

When my dad was buried recently his 2 cremated poodles when into the coffin. Made us all happy.

  5. Oh Andie, you have just been through so much with Duchess, and now Jenny! You have to take comfort in the fact that you treated these lovely girls like princesses at the end of their lives, they so deserved it! Our pets take up such a big place in our hearts, don't they?

    Hugs,

    Nicole

  6. How very very sad for you, to say good-by to two such special friends. I think how happy they both must have been in the last few months of their lives, being with you, and each of them, knowing they were so loved, but what a empty space they leave in your heart. You will have special memories to get you through this.. I SEND YOU BIG HUGS...

  7. Yes, Andie, I remember Jenny well! Very, very sad and heartbreaking! At least you gave her a few month of happiness to the end of her life, and she's sitting now on cloud 'number seven' watching you!

Your blogger friends feeling with you and thinking of you.

Best wishes for a peaceful Easter,

  8. My Dear Divine, You are so wonderful. I know it is sad. You have to realize that you gave this sweet little creature a few good days. She went to God's arms knowing she was loved and wanted. She lived in a palace and had all the love and needs she could want. It is hard, but never stop. keep on loving and being the sweet dear you are. I love you for it.Just know you gave her a wonderful send off. God loves you. Richard from My Old Historic House.

  10. I am so very sorry for your loss once again Andie. You've really had a tough time of it losing not one but two precious babies. At least Jenny had time with you at home, a place of her own and to be loved.

  12. So sorry that you've lost another love in your life. You've had more than your fair share. It's sad that with generosity of heart, as you give these older ladies a home, comes eventually the sadness. Wishing you all the best.

  14. So much heartache for you in such a short time. As a long-time dog rescuer (and a cat or 6 here and there), I commend you and thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for taking in a senior animal. Even though your time spent with Jenny was short, the last few months of her life were filled with so much love and adoration I am sure she felt she was already in heaven. Seniors can be among the most difficult animals to adopt out and your home is a very special place indeed. I am so sorry you are hurting. Please take comfort in knowing that she is now healthy and whole and resting in the arms of the angels forevermore. May God bless and keep you!

  15. Sorry again for your loss Andie. But do not despair you gave her an incredible life even if it was short. As hard as it is rejoice in the fact that her last days were spent in pure love. That is something to be proud of.
    Take care of yourself.

  17. Dear Andie,
I am so sad to see you have lost another friend. My heart goes out to both of you and prayers also. It has been a year of loss for me too. First my Beloved Babaje then my Spirit who I have not even blogged about. I cannot stand the sadness of it all. Then my Caramel. . . oh how I miss them. Two weeks after the loss of Caramel I stopped by the local shelter and saved a sweet little twin to Caramel. He is a doll and makes me laugh every day. I know that you will be saving another lovely friend. Please don't stop there are so many that need us.
Sending thoughts to you of strength and comfort. Be well my friend.

  18. Oh NO!
    You poor dear Andie!
There is something so sweet about the older cats who are rescued.
They seem to have incredible intuition.
    My deepest sympathy.

  19. I'm so sorry Andie... our brood of fur babies all got quite old together and so we had several losses in succession and it was very difficult. We are now down to two... the Bohemian Cat Boys... Morris came to us as a mature adult alley cat & I suspect he's fairly old... Rusty came to us as a feral kitten and so we know his approx. age better. The comfort you can receive in knowing that you welcomed a mature fur baby into your Home to live out their Life in the best possible surroundings and enveloped in Love and pampering may take some of the sting out of the passing... Hugs... Dawn... The Bohemian

  20. Andie,
My sympathy is with you. No matter how many precious pets you lose, it never gets easier. I feel as if you will always take in the little animals who have been rejected; for us to choose love, it also brings the sadness to face the inevitable loss, too. The bitter with the sweet, as my mom used to say.
I hope you're recovering, and finding solace in your gorgeous designs.
    Much love,
    Margaret

I was visiting someone else (poor memory, saw your post title and wanted to say I'm so sorry.

  24. Since I'm just now discovering this wonderful place, Divine Theatre, months have passes since you wrote this post. Not that the loss is any easier to accept. I admire your willingness to open your heart and home to these precious animals. It isn't easy knowing that their days are possibly numbered.
