What I wanted...
What I found...It's nice but it doesn't match my home. $500 on Craigslist is not inexpensive but it is far less than the original price. I really wanted it, so I splurged!
What I did...
This photographed more silvery than it actually is. It is actually blackened bronze. I will add chandelier crystals and a round prism at the bottom. I am also looking for bronze swags to "drape" around the basket section. Any suggestions? It still looks unfinished to me!

Andie you are the QUEEN of the transformation. Do you mean swags at the base like the inspiration picture? I do think they would look great if you could find something similar? And if anyone can YOU can! *winks* Vanna
ReplyDeleteStunning! You creative gal! I love it! If you say its unfinished I can't wait to see it when you're done!
ReplyDeleteFound the real deal antique of this in gilt with oodles of crystal.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't afford it & did the next best thing. Called a friend and told him he must buy it for his conservatory. He did !!
Now, I can visit 'my' chandelier.

OMG. I have never seen the likes of this, but it is a perfect piece of WHIMSY and I think that CRYSTALS...real ones will look PERFECT!!! It depends where you are going to put it, but I would find a well made paper mâché figure, a clown, an animal of sorts and put it in the basket! But is has to be a fine work of art, not a cheap imitation, for it it work. IT IS FABULOUS, ANDI!!!!! Anita
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love how you make everything work! I'm off to visit you on the other blogs! Happy weekend Andie!
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOH MY!!! So awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great, unique chandelier! I love it! Luckyyyyy!
ReplyDeleteWow, Andie, that's amazing. You are so good at redos. I can't wait to see what you're going to do with it.
ReplyDeleteNow that Stones song will be running through my tiny head all day!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
I absolutely love your chandy! Spring truly has sprung.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.
Oh how absolutely gorgeous!!! I love hot air balloons and that is just so lovely. I think it looks great as is, I would probably paint the candles all white, I'm not crazy about the gold on them. But if you like them, then it is perfect. Please be sure to post the finished and in place chandi!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
So cool! I never knew that a chandelier like that even existed. Great find!
ReplyDeleteThe chandy looks great! I am not sure exactly what you are wanting with the swags but am thinking there is a rub and buff product that could give more depth to the swags around the balloon area.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing where you will be putting this pretty!
Ms. D. I love what you have done. Look on the computer under "Great Chandeliers" its a company in New j. that sells parts. They might have your chains. It is wonderful. You Go Girl. Also if you go to my comments and look up 'curtains in my trees" she has a Sissy Dog and she is very sick and soon will be going to Heaven, I would appreciate if you could give her a nudge. I love you for it and any one else who might care to give a word of iincouragement. Thanks. Richard at My Old Historic House and Sissy Dog

Andie, you already know how I feel about this chandelier. Now, I have two reasons to sneak into your house at night: one to read in your library and two, to stare longingly at this chandelier...sigh...
ReplyDeletems. Divine, thanks for stopping by. I am saving the garden till it grows and looks better. But i promise soon. Thanks, Richard and Sissy Dog

ReplyDeleteWhat a great job...love it!!
ReplyDeleteGood grief, girl, you are the queen of unique finds. The chandelier is amazing. In your after photo, it doesn't look like it has as much depth as you usually give your finished projects (maybe it's just the lighting?), some extra glazing or distressing maybe... I know it will be perfect in your capable hands. :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing Andie !
ReplyDeleteYou are a true artist!!!
Love the Stones!
Pamela xo
Simply gorgeous! I can't wait to see it hanging!
ReplyDeleteWow Andie, The chandelier is wonderful! You completely transformed it with paint. I just sold in my shop a beautiful French balloon chandy all done in crystals. I wanted to bring it home but had no where for it. Yours is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
Andie,
ReplyDeleteFirst let me say, I am so sorry for your friend's passing. You will both be in my thoughts and prayers.
On a lighter note, your chandelier is stunning. I am constantly amazed by you.... you wish, you seek and you always seem to FIND!
I wonder what you think about real beeswax candle slips? I have replaced all my candle slips with them. I found great custom made ones at a very good price at www.awestco.com
They are a company out of GA and the people are so sweet and helpful there.
Check it out.
Maybe that will give you the finished look?
I love it!
xx
Alison
Take time to heal.
Absolutely stunning!
