Guess what?
It costs less than $2,000!

Ditto! You amaze me with what you come across on Craigslist. This is an incredible find!
ReplyDeleteThis one takes the cake!!!
ReplyDeleteHow in the heck do you find these gems!!!
You know who would love this?
Loi at Tone on Tone.
You should give him a heads up!!!
You are the best Andie!!!
We should hook up and start a business :)
It looks so pure and chaste it's almost forbidding! Beautiful, of course but I'm not sure I could live with it, even if I had a place for it.
ReplyDeleteWhat severely simple, classical lines! You'd never dream it was made in 1850. It would never work with English and American furniture of that period. Unfortunately, I know next-to-nothing about Scandinavian antiques, but I'd love to see the house for which it was originally designed, wouldn't you?
Someone will have to build a special house -- or at least a full new wing -- to accommodate the stove making it THE Central Feature of a large salon, of course.
I think it would go very well with furniture by Mies van der Rohe and paintings by Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso, Joan Miro and Juan Gris, et al.
Elegant, indeed, but rather chilly looking -- especially for a source of heat. ;-)
It would be interesting to know more about this Swedish tile stove. Does it use coal for heat? It certainly would be a unique piece in any home.
ReplyDeleteAndie you always find the most unique pieces! Wonderful for the right space.
