A Swedish tile stove.  That's what!

Here are the tiles...

I am not buying this.  I have no room for it!  I wish I did!
But because I love you guys I thought I should give you the opportunity to own this for a fraction of its true value!

Guess what?
It costs less than $2,000!

Do you know what these usually sell for?!!!

  4. It looks so pure and chaste it's almost forbidding! Beautiful, of course but I'm not sure I could live with it, even if I had a place for it.

What severely simple, classical lines! You'd never dream it was made in 1850. It would never work with English and American furniture of that period. Unfortunately, I know next-to-nothing about Scandinavian antiques, but I'd love to see the house for which it was originally designed, wouldn't you?

Someone will have to build a special house -- or at least a full new wing -- to accommodate the stove making it THE Central Feature of a large salon, of course.

I think it would go very well with furniture by Mies van der Rohe and paintings by Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso, Joan Miro and Juan Gris, et al.

Elegant, indeed, but rather chilly looking -- especially for a source of heat. ;-)

  5. It would be interesting to know more about this Swedish tile stove. Does it use coal for heat? It certainly would be a unique piece in any home.
