 Japan hit by vast 8.9 magnitude 'superquake', 30ft tsunami


More than 137 confirmed dead, 'several hundred' missing, toll to rise

• Up to 300 more bodies found on coast

• 'State of emergency' after nuclear plant's cooling system fails

• Two ships missing with 180 on board

    Hello Chris,

    I have not received an update from the Tokyo office yet, but I am assuming that no news is good news. I am doing my best to get in touch with Yusuke, the manager in Tokyo, to make sure that everyone in Labo is OK, but since it's currently 2:00am Saturday morning their time it may be a while before I'm able to connect with him. I will definitely keep you posted.

    Saw pictures, finally, late afternoon.

    No words could match the devastation of the pictures.
