Seriously, Andie, Why Do You Do This to Yourself?

I'm talking to myself.
It isn't pretty.

Here's why...

Five feet tall, over 300 pounds.

There is also this...

Nine feet tall, five feet wide and over 300 pounds.

Very good deals, both.  The first on Craigslist and the second on a Craigslist-esque site called bookoo.

Handsome Husband wants to know why too.
"Why do you have such an affection for things you can't move?" he asks.

"It gets windy here",  I tell him.

It really does get windy here, you guys.
We live in a corn field.

Back to my lament:

Why do I do this to myself?

HOW am I going to move them?

Anyone?

xo,

Andie

  2. I use those magic moving men, the foam and plastic sliders that you put under the furniture. That way I can push large pieces around by myself...and if I think I might be moving it again soon, I leave the sliders under the item ... till I think I'm done moving.

  6. I like the idea of "stud muffins!" :-)
But, I'd like to know where that top concrete piece originally stood and how the heck you GOT IT...I suppose it was a local sale, right? :-) You mention WIND and the corn field............you're not going to line a bunch of heavy stuff like this up in a line against the wind, are you? (smile)

  7. Beautiful pieces! I assume the urn will go outside? What are your plans for the mirror? I don't think at its weight that it can be hung! I guess the main thing is to figure out where they're going, hire some guys to move them there and never move them again! LOL! I wish I could find such gorgeous pieces on my local Craigslist. Good Luck! Hugs, Leena

  10. Bought a handtruck decades ago. Can do most things. For the rest I have a go to man. Husband's aren't as cheerful as a go to man.

    OMG, that urn !!!

  11. Be careful, Andie. The French expression de trop might begin to apply here. The cost of having these items delivered and properly placed might far exceed whatever you may have saved on the purchase price.

And WHERE would you PUT these items?

Hanging that mirror ALONE would take a TEAM of strong men who are expert in the field, and SCAFFOLDING I should think.

    Remember what the Greeks advised:

    "Moderation in all things."

There comes a time when we all need to step back, relax, take stock and simply enjoy what we have -- at least for a while.

  12. Two Men and A Truck, or whatever their equivalent is where you live. Here in SE Wisconsin they are movers with a small truck who will hire out to do quick jobs, and I understand that they have the know-how and equipment to do it right. Good luck, I hope you are able to find a solution. Hiring movers will add to your cost, but since you will make sure that any movers you hire have insurance you will be protected (eventually) in the event your possessions are damaged. Sure beats drafting brothers-in-law or cousins to help and then they drop something and it breaks into a millions pieces, eek!
