So sorry friends! Coming back into Blogland wasn't as simple a task as I had hoped!
I had a medical thingy, which could be called an emergency, that kept me in the hospital for a bit. Seems my heart thought the rest of me moved too slow and decided to run off without me! 😂
I have an arrhythmia that likes to remind me who's boss every now and then.
I am out and about now, connected to a monitor that tracks my heart rhythm.
Doing much better, I think.
Moving on, I want to share the pet kennel makeover I did!
A friend found this leather covered kennel in a consignment shop and thought of me.
I love the shape but not the color or the windows.
It reminded me of a kennel at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The niche de chien was created by Claude I Sené, Marie Antoinette's cabinet maker.
Niche de chien, created for Marie Antoinette.
Our kennel, after I gilded the wood had the windows removed and covered, then upholstered the outside in a mohair similar in color. You can also see the silk stripe fabric on the interior, just like Marie Antoinette's!
The cushion is down filled, so that Atticus can get a good day's rest!
Online, these can cost $10,000! Ours, total, including the, over 2,000 upholstery nails (I counted), was less than 5% of that!
I was thinking that a drum table from the 70's could easily be upholstered and made into a kennel such as this.
I may have to try it. After all, we have 5 other fuzzy friends who need beds!
xo
Andie
This is crazy beautiful! I love your idea about using the drum table...hmmm...would still be too small for our beast (Gryffin), but great idea for a kitty friend I know. Take care of your heart, Andie.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I think it would be fairly easy.
DeleteATTENTION PLEASE!!! Am so glad expressing my profound gratitude to a man that is so concerned about other people's well being. I was suffering from (HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS TYPE II) over 2years, i have spent thousands of dollars in buying expensive drugs and visiting several hospitals in different countries, i was really in selvage pain "until" one glorious morning, i read about Dr. Kham on the internet on how he had helped and cured so many people suffering from HERPES 1$2, HPV, CANCER, HIV/AIDS, ALZHEIMER, FIBROID, ENLARGED PROSTATE and HEART DISEASE ETC. So I contacted him through this Email: dr.khamcaregiver@gmail.com and i shared my problems with him, he gave me the healing procedure and i followed them. Two weeks later after I received and used his product, he told me to go for a medical test, behold the result was negative, now am HERPES VIRUS free. I just want to use this platform to thank Dr. Kham for curing me from that deadly virus and also for exposing his herbal cure to the world at large, please you can as well contact him at his Email: dr.khamcaregiver@gmail.com (or) visit his website https://drkhamherbalhealingcenter.wordpress.com/ or https://drkhamcaregiver.wixsite.com/drkhamcaregiverherba you can also visit his Whatsapp at +2348159922297 for solutions to your health problems...
DeleteLove that niche de chien, to which Atticus seems to have adapted quite well!
ReplyDeleteKeep feeling better.
Thank you, my friend. Atticus certainly does seem to fit.
DeleteFrom "Niche du chien" to "Niche du chat!"
ReplyDeleteBrillante, plus belle et tres ingénieux.
Je m'en sui ravi pour toi et pour le chat Atticus qui porte bonheur.
Atticus makes me the lucky one. He is a gentleman.
DeleteOn a MEDICAL note:
ReplyDeleteWhen i was forty I developed a heart arrhythmia after experiencing more than two years of extreme accumulated emotional stress.
Symptoms were dramatic. I was alone for the first time in my life, and couldn't sleep because of the pounding in my chest. Repeated visits to the local ER located less than four blocks from my house, revealed no heart attacks had taken place, but I was put on a medicatn to help regulate the heartbeat
It ddn' releve my anxiety, o insead of tossing nd turning all night and feeling panicky, I started to GET UP, GET DrESSED, GT OUT of the HOUSE, and WALK.
I soon fund myself waling as much as six miles in the iddle of the night.
I would then come home very tire, bu feeling much BEttER, and so i was able to sleep properly, albeit at the wrong time.
At any rate to make a long story short I finally went to a cardiologist far from home to have a complete "work-up."
The examination, which included wearing a Halter Monitor for two full days, –– just as you are doing, Andie, –– revealed that all he WALKING i had been ding in the wee hors of the morning had ELIMINATED the problem. I was told to STOP the MEDICTION and CONTINUE WALKING.
Merely knowng that i was basically all right vrtually ELIMNATED the ANXIETY, an I've not had a recurrence of arrhythia since.
I'll be SEVENTY-NINE in less than five weeks, and I'm here to tell you that I have experiencd the Best Years of My Life since being forced to deal with the arrhythmia.
I know that you are by nature a very intense, passionate, creative and ambitious person, Andie. I know alsothat you have recently been put through enormous amounts of stress by GNORANT, HATE-FILLED, RAGE-ADDICTED LEFTISTS, who neither understand nor appreciate you.
Try to DISMISS those pathetic morons as unworthy of taking even one moment of your precious time and attention, then START WALKING.
Love to you, Gracie and Handsome husband

Thank you, my friend. I am quite active. We ride our bicycles 20 - 40 miles a day in the warmer months and I run up to 5 miles a day. I am on a 30 day monitor. I think it is a combination of very low blood pressure and electrolyte issues. At any rate, I hope we can get to the bottom of it. I cannot take medication, as it causes a paradoxical response. It is scary but I do appreciate your input regarding your experience. I passed out while driving, which, of course, is the opposite of fun. I was able to pull over in time. I was on a busy expressway. I guess the combination of arrhythmia and v tach is the issue. I agree that exercise is the only answer. Handsome Husband bought me a large sledgehammer and a tire to beat, along with kettle bells. Last year I had a terrible reaction to a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, which affected all my tendons. It took a while to build myself up. Months and months.
DeleteI don't pay any mind to those people. I really don't. I just pray for them. They seem to be very unhappy.
I have missed out on so much. I could read your posts but, since I was on my phone and not my computer, I could not reply.
I think of you often and I am looking forward to your birthday celebration.

Are you sure you haven't been exercising TOO much, Andie?
DeleteIt really is possible to get more than you need of a good thing.
What is it the Greeks supposedly said?
Moderation in all things.
I've had trouble taking that good advice, myself, till advancing age and infirmity forced me to. ;-)
I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it.
DeleteYou are loved. I hope you know that.
Gracie is singing "Caro Mio Ben". I wish you could hear her. She is also learning "Hymn to Joy" on the piano. You were the inspiration for that.

I love this pet kennel and have been collecting DIY pins on Pinterest for using a drum table there are many ideas. Yay I am so sorry to hear about your health issues. You are so busy with so many wonderful projects just remember to take it easy! I have a question where do you suppose I can find large angel wings to hang on my wall like yours? Thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Deborah! My wings are actually part of an eagle sculpture from the 80's! The King's Bay has some wonderful pieces and Ellen takes layaway! Here are some of their neato items!

DeleteI was us trying to say I LIKED the windows, and wondered wy you felt obliged to remove them?
Because I wanted it to resemble the original.
DeleteOh, I see!
DeleteWell, what you did with it made it very beautiful, Andie.
You can really transform any piece of furniture to make it look fabulous
ReplyDeleteAnyone can. The hard part is deciding which fabric!
DeleteReally happy that you are blogging again. I truly enjoy reading about your projects even if they are not as plentiful as in the past when you blogged regularly. When I somehow happened upon your blog several years ago, I was entranced......so many beautiful things to look at and ideas to implement!
ReplyDeletePamela! So HAPPY to see you! Thank you so much!
