Procrastinating at a High Rate of Speed

I never have fewer than ten or so projects going at once, for I have the attention span of an espresso-addled gnat.

I'd like to claim it keeps me sane...but that would be a lie.
Not to mention that sanity was never the goal in the first place...or an option for that matter.
My mind never sleeps.  I don't even try to fight it anymore.

In between being forced to do things that responsible adults are expected to do I have been attempting to get the house ready for Gracie's annual tea party!

I suppose it might be more effective to concentrate on one task at a time but I am utterly incapable of doing that.
Short of a lobotomy, it isn't going to happen.

I moved the family room back to its original layout.  The problem is, I like it both ways so each time I change it I obsess over whether it was the right thing to do.
I still like it best with no curtains but until we pick the entire house up and move it to a lot with a view the drapes stay.
Handsome Husband is ready to glue the furniture in place.
He never knows where it will be when he gets home.
Men seem to like their sofas stationary.

Vignette in Family Room.

I found a zebra print cowhide on Craigslist!  It was brand new and now the Library smells like the shoe department at Nordstrom! One of the happiest places on planet earth!

The gentleman I bought the rug from has many more.  Let me know if you would like his phone number!  He also sells on ebay!

Here I am creating vignettes when I should be washing dirty breakfast dishes!
The dishes are soaking in the sink so, technically, they aren't dirty.
They aren't even dusty.
Am I the only one who washes dishes before I put them in the dishwasher?

I liked this vignette so much I decided to make it into my blog header!

We removed all the remaining mirror from this gorgeous French screen.  I am waiting on toile fabric from ebay to cover the panels. It will be stunning!

This is a Before photo...one of two chairs that I reupholstered in toile for Gracie's playroom!  Stay tuned!

Craigslist! Can you believe it?  Three hundred dollars.
Should I paint it?

Craigslist.  Thirty dollars for the pair!  You can see them in the Dining Room vignette, above.

This is also a Before photo.  I am in the process of painting and recovering them to resemble a Swedish Rococo chair I saw on 1st Dibs!

Inspiration chair

The chair on the left cost $25, the chair on the right $2,500.
I have four.
Note the similar shape.
I am fairly certain that I will never own a $2,500 chair, let alone a set of four for $10,000!
I am happy with the alternative!

Seven foot tall bird cage.  Craigslist.

I have a ga-jillion more things to share with you but my mind is already twenty steps ahead...

I am off to visit my blog friends before this rare moment of quiet focus recedes...

  1. My take on the adulthood enjoyments? I wake up happy everyday I'm in my own home and not a child living in my parent's house. Seriously. Don't understand people complaining about a bad childhood. Whatever. It certainly give a great adulthood !!!

    Love the new header.

You are part of my courage selling stuff on craigslist. My beloved has had some major things to sell and I've sold them all, but one. Anyone want a second home in clayton, GA??? !

Why not plan on moving your furniture quarterly?

    Or more !!

  5. Only someone with your energy could possibly do all that gets accomplished around your home. All those fabulous finds, then you transform them into incredibly gorgeous pieces. And you garden too! I stand in awe!
Can't wait to see your set of chairs transformed. ;-)

  6. Andie, I am smiling the whole time I am reading this because that is exactly how I feel every day. Sometimes my brain hurts and I am starting to talk to myself...very loudly and at "she maybe crazy" speed. And I am also planning the girls' birthday party. I suggested a tea party but nooo...they want it at a children spa. I am loving all of your amazing finds. The chairs are gorg..with appliques you can probably make them look very very similar to your inspiration one. I die with the birdcage. I want it. I need it. I am soooo excited to see what you are planning to do with it!

    Love,
    Victoria

  7. Hi Andie! Honey, I don't believe you're by yourself. I do the same thing. I go off on tangents! :) Now look at your most gorgeous home! Love your new rug and that pretty chest you got off Craigslist. It's pretty in wood but I'd bet it'd look most gorgeous painted too. Take snaps of the tea party! Thank for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia;)

  8. Love your chair as much as the inspiration chair, yours being a wee bit more delicate, I just know you will divinely pull offits look if Swedish Rococo as all your finds end up divinely transformed.

I so wish I could find the kind of finds you find, your area is the best on Craigslist !! :)

Thank you dear Andi for making me feel normal with my million thoughts in my head and the hours of thinking I do, the dramatically ever changing pieces I add and take away, the moving things around and always putting them right back wherethe once were :))

Looking forward to seeing picks of Gracie's Tea Party !

    Beautiful weekend to you

  9. ANDIE! YES, paint that armoire! I am partial to the château look of weathered grays and whites! Your vignette photo is also reminiscent of the châteaux of France, and what you've created is phenomenal. I am in the process of painting a sweet little French provincial nightstand in Annie Sloan white, while I too have other projects in the midst of me!

Thank you for coming to visit; it is through the eyes of children and POETRY that we can learn to look out our own windows and see for ourselves, the mercy and goodness of God, even though this world IS filled with sorrow and despair. Bless you, Andie! Anita

  10. We are so different. That's why you have to move next door to me. I start a project, and get annoyed if I can't just concentrate on one damn thing at a time. Glad I kicked you in the beehind so you finally wrote your blog. We all just like to know what you're up to, things don't have to be finished for us to enjoy your escapades.

  11. Andie,
Always am happy to see a new post from you and this one left me smiling at your humor and in awe of your CL's finds. Your new header from your chateau like vignette is fabulous. Writing poetry and designing always floods my brain with a zillion ideas and words so I relate to your description of your busy mind.
Looking forward to photo's of Gracie's tea party. Lucky girl to have such a creative Mom.
    Happy weekend,
    Vera

  13. Yes, paint it. And, I know exactly of what you speak. I have told my family to put She Thought Too Much on my epitaph. They told me it made them think too much.

  20. Oh you know I love your house Andy and everything you do and move! I'm smitten with your vignette with the silver fowl covers and the glass urns on top of the pedestals, so classy and awesome. I don't blame you for making them your header. Great zebra rug too, perfect for you! Your home is classy and chick...my fav combo for decor. Have a fun at DD's anual tea party. Enjoy your week ahead dear Andy.

  22. Olá,
    tudo bem?
Faz tempo que não venho lhe visitar. Amei sua casa, está cheia de novidades e móveis lindos. Esse sofá está divino. Meu marido também não gosta de mudanças.
    Bjos tenha uma ótima semana.

  23. No, you're not the only one who washes dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. Painting that gorgeous piece of wood would be sacrilegious.

  24. Gosh, Andie, your CraigsList is wonderful; far, far better than around here. It's chump change around here and to get good stuff, one has to go to the auction where it's precious indeed. Lots to do and the warmer it becomes, more lots to do. We're almost over the last snow storm...thankfully and am prayinghopingwishing for warm weather, aka Spring.

  25. You never disappoint!
I adore that screen... Did you remove the mirrored shelves?
    It is so unusual.
I just scored a huge wicker elephant bar in Palm Springs. For some reason it made me think of you:)

  29. Hi, Andie,

I still say you -- above all people I've met in recent years -- really OUGHT to have YOUR OWN SHOP.

You have tremendous talent as a PICKER.

  30. And thank YOU for understanding what A BIENTÔT means. I will still post, but not as often. Enjoy your painting, Andie! Anita

  31. Your ADHD OCD is showing... *winks*... but the End Results are Oh so Worth It! It's all Divine... but that Library... took my breath away and I can almost smell it... Shoe Dept. at Nordstroms... perfect reference for me to get the whole Vibe and Sensory Pleasures of it all! *smiles* Of coarse your Craigslist Scores are exquisite and your Transformations will be spectacular. As one whose mind is always racing at warp speeds I totally commisserate with this Post and the conflicts within that are battled as to what we're doing versus what we should be doing, thinking of doing, should have done, etc. etc. etc.. If you had a Shop it would be the 'Go To Place' I tell ya! Blessings from the AZ Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian
